Stop for a photo opportunity at Al-Alam Palace, the Sultan’s residence. Visit the Bait Al Zubair Museum, showcasing traditional artifacts. End the day with a stroll through the Mutrah souk. Visit the Amouage perfume and essence factory, which follows the tradition of Arabian perfume. Depart for Nizwa, the capital of “The Julanda dynasty,” and visit the Nizwa Fort. Continue to Jabrin, to visit the finest castle in Oman, built in the late 17th century, which became a center of learning in Oman. This castle features exquisitely planned designs, including space for the “Wali,” the women’s bath, the kitchen, the “MAJLIS,” etc. Most of the ceilings are decorated with beautiful Islamic motifs. A brief stop at the Bahla Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Dinner at the hotel.
Visit the Nizwa souk. Depart for the Wahiba Sands desert, stopping at the villages of Minsifieh and Al Mudayrib, which have maintained their traditional and commercial character. Continue to the Wahiba Sands desert. Upon arrival, an expert driver will transport us by 4×4 to the camp. Dinner at the camp.
Half board. Enjoy the sunrise over the dunes. Depart from the desert and change from the 4×4 to a bus for travel to Wadi Bani Khaled in the Hajar Mountains, one of the most impressive natural corners of the country. Continue to Sur, the capital of the Sharqiya region. Early dinner at the hotel. Depart for Ras Al Linz, a turtle sanctuary where they come to lay their eggs in the sand at night (with a local English-speaking expert guide).
Half board. Visit Sur, with the Aiyga neighborhood and its delicate white colonial-style houses and the shipyard where wooden dhows are still built. Continue to Wadi Shaab, with a series of beautiful natural pools and waterfalls. Access to the gorge is by boat, followed by a 40-minute walk. Picnic lunch. Head to Bimah Sinkhole, to see a deep 100-meter diameter sinkhole that looks like a crater under the sea. Transfer to Muscat airport. Flight to Abu Dhabi. Arrival and transfer to the hotel.
