Oman’s Cultural Storyteller And The Woman Behind Alia Gallery

Alia Al Farsi, a prominent Omani artist and curator, is celebrated for her vibrant works that merge Oman’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary art. Born in Muttrah, her deep connection to historic towns and architecture influences her artistic expression.

Alia is celebrated for her abstract expressionist works that often explore themes of inner beauty, spirituality, and cultural identity. Her art frequently incorporates elements from diverse cultures, such as French poetry, Cambodian textiles, and Omani artifacts, reflecting her eclectic style and deep appreciation for global artistic traditions.

Alia has exhibited globally in cities like Paris, Seoul, and Venice, introducing Oman’s artistic identity to the world. She is also the founder of Alia Gallery, the largest private art gallery in Oman, located in Muscat. The gallery, which includes a café and library, serves as a cultural hub showcasing her diverse works, from large acrylic paintings to upcycled art.

Over her career spanning more than three decades, Al Farsi has held solo exhibitions in cities including Tokyo, Seoul, Paris, Brussels, and Geneva, and has participated in group exhibitions in Stockholm, Berlin, Shanghai, Abu Dhabi, and Geneva, among others.
